The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 331

When he saw Omari’s condition he didn’t think twice. He was distraught but he kept a level head and did what he had to do. Yi Chen grasped his wrist and stared at him with bloodshot eyes.

“You...,” he whispered but Zi Han showed him a reassuring smile and used whatever of his mental power he could gather to heal Omari.

As the scarlet-like fog flowed out of his body he felt like a part of him was disappearing. Like something in him was being taken away and never to be returned.

Despite feeling this way Zi Han would selflessly help Omari. Yi Chen couldn’t take it anymore and once he saw a layer of cold sweat forming on his lover’s forehead he walked over to him and grasped both his wrist while pulling him away.

“That’s enough. He will live.... baby, that’s enough,” he said and pulled Zi Han closer.

Zi Han felt a little dizzy so he didn’t immediately respond. Hearing that pain in Yi Chen’s voice made Zi Han’s heartache. In a daze, he comforted him instead saying,

“Don’t be sad... I am fine.”

Yi Chen lightly patted his cheek forcing him to look at him. Zi Han’s eyes were unfocused but he was partially lucid.

.....

“You worry too much... check if he is okay,” said Zi Han but Yi Chen didn’t believe him.

“Raylan, check his vitals,” said Yi Chen and Raylan began to scan its boss’ future husband.

It noticed faint abnormalities on his brain which somehow returned to normal in the next second. With the policy, report all no matter how small, Raylan said, “The young sir is in good condition. There was a slight abnormality in his brain waves but it was only temporary. A little sugar will give him a kick.”

Yi Chen didn’t feel at ease at all after hearing that. He pulled out a piece of butterscotch candy and fed it to him. Zi Han chortled as he sat down with one of his legs bent at the knee.

Yi Chen said to him, “Stay there, don’t move,” before he checked on Omari. He seemed to be getting better but he was still in a critical condition.

Zi Han who had been told to sit down heard Igneous speaking into his ear. At first, he thought it was an illusion but it wasn’t.

“Sir, your mother is trying to connect through Chronos. You have to be in the cockpit to speak to her,” said Igneous, and Zi Han abruptly got up almost tripping in the process.

Yi Chen hastily got up to hold him but before he could ask what he was doing Zi Han whispered, “I am going to talk to my mum. She needs me.”

At first Yi Chen thought he was hallucinating or something but when he looked through the windscreen of his mech he saw there was indeed a call display on Igneous.

“Let me walk you there?” he said but Zi Han swatted his hand away with a light chuckle.

“Why? It’s not like I am pregnant,” he said.

Yi Chen, “???”

It was safe to say that Zi Han was definitely out of it at this point. When he answered the call Zi Han had to clench his fist to keep himself focused otherwise he would worry her.

“Oh, my baby. You had me worried. Are you okay?....” said Zi Xingxi almost wishing she could climb into the screen and hold her baby boy.

“I am fine, mum. What’s going on?” asked Zi Han only for Zi Xingxi to squint her eyes as she leaned forward to take a closer look.

“Where is Yi Chen?” she asked her tone completely different from when she was speaking to Zi Han.

Yi Chen stepped over into her view and endured a mouthful from Zi Xingxi. That’s because she could easily identify that look. Once her husband exhausted himself healing the Marshal that he wasn’t right for the day. He was lazy and talked a lot of nonsense.

One look at Zi Han and she could tell he had just healed someone who had been severely injured. “When I am not around he is your responsibility. You... can’t let... do such things... if it’s not... you,” she said but the connection was already starting to break apart. Just like that, the call ended and the two of them stared at each other.

“You heard that... I am your responsibility,” said Zi Han seeming high like he had smoked something he shouldn’t have.

Yi Chen, “...”

“Put Igneous on autopilot and let’s drop these two off at the base,” he said and Zi Han nodded his head before putting his feet up while patting Mr. Twiggles.

Yi Chen, “...”

The four of them returned to the base. Zain’s mech could return to its storage pendant but Omari’s was too damaged thus they could only leave it behind.

When they got back to the base it was busier than before. Shorty had broken his arm and leg. Shaun had a head injury and Hela had minor scratches.

The scene in the medical bay was chaotic and depressing. Because Omari was in a much more critical condition than the rest he was directly placed in the healing capsule and the doctor on site watched over the operations.

Hela took them to the side and said, “We still don’t have any communication with headquarters. But according to the locator, three mechs are down and the pilots are presumed dead.”

Two of the dead were from one of the oldest squads that were assigned in the zone where the first explosion went off. The third person was from Evan’s squad. It was one of their classmates at the Military academy.

The news was very devastating and because they didn’t know who the enemy was, the next best thing was to evacuate and bring backup.

Yi Chen didn’t seem to agree though. These explosive devices were very useful to whoever was behind this attack. If they don’t disarm those bombs they could be used to blackmail the federation. They had to be removed at any cost.

Yi Chen grabbed Zi Han’s wrist and requested Hela follow them. The three of them entered the control room and found Li Ran hard at work hacking Sheba which was for some reason trying to kick him out. The best way to deal with the situation was to fight back.
