The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 260

Zi Han who had been angered by Yi Chen was especially vicious that even the clueless Caspers could sense that this aggression wasn’t all because of them. There was something else deep going on.

Even Yi Chen could feel that each time Zi Han pulled the trigger it was him getting shot. His muscles would tense up subconsciously.

The creatures that had been torn through with laser bullets had had enough of this trigger-happy human. Thus they merged into one big creature before attacking both of them.

While Zi Han was focused on the floating giant he didn’t notice another one of these Caspers approach him from behind before hooking his leg and carrying him away. Zi Han found himself upside down without his rifle.

Seeing this Yi Chen panicked. He summoned his mech and grabbed the merged giant Casper’s head before smashing it into the wall leaving a massive dent in the temple walls.

He leaped into the sky just as Zi Han summoned Igneous disguised as his other mech. Because of the drastic change in weight, the merged specter-like creature couldn’t hold on to him anymore.

Zi Han raised his mech arm as he fell to the ground and fired at its head. With a high-pitched scream, its head exploded and it fell to the ground.

Zi Han wanted to engage his thrusters but before he knew it he heard, “I am coming Han Han, hold on.” Two seconds later the pair of them were on the ground with Yi Chen on top of Zi Han their positions ambiguous and blush-inducing.

.....

“Ah Yi Chen, get off me. You are such a pervert,” said Zi Han but in Yi Chen’s defense that wasn’t his intention. In a panic, he forgot that Zi Han could summon his mech.

“Baby, are you still so upset with me that you have to call me that?” asked Yi Chen seeming a little aggrieved.

Zi Han didn’t want to talk about this right now so he pushed him off as Li Ran interjected,

“I am so sorry to interrupt you love birds but I need you to see something... I think the Republic transported their first person to the Federation and he so happens to be a shitty hacker at that.”

The pair looked at the live feed from the person’s computer and were in awe. In front of them was a grey-haired boy with patterns on his face that looked nothing like what was available in the federation. His clothes and mannerisms were something out of place with the people of Seon.

“We have to find him and don’t report this discovery until I speak to him,” said Yi Chen having seen the light after having not found anything of use in the past few years.

Zi Han was still fuming thus he ignored Yi Chen. He took a few steps forward his brow creasing even tighter. He could sense something and the feeling only got much worse with each waking moment.

They needed to find the nest of these deadly phantoms asap. Why? It was because these creatures were infamous for stealing livestock and humans for the purpose of absorbing the nutrients for their lava.

It seemed this time the Republic meant to annihilate an entire planet. Because someone deliberately tempered with the military base they weren’t able to respond in time and were infiltrated from within. This meant they stood no chance when the attack came.

Zi Han crouched down in his mech and placed his hand on the ground. Igneous used monopulses to geomap the ground underneath their feet.

As soon as the data came out Zi Han got up and looked at Yi Chen who was still staring at him.

Zi Han was startled for a moment but he quickly recovered and said, “They are hollow tunnels underneath the city. There must be an entrance somewhere around here,” he said and Yi Chen nodded his head before instructing the other two,

“Go and find that boy. Be careful.”

“Yes Chen-ge,” said Zain before engaging stealth mode on his mech.

“That fuckin brat is probably feeling smug right now,” said Omari engaging his mech as well. This meant the deadly phantoms wouldn’t spot them easily.

Zi Han disengaged Igneous while Li Ran was scanning for all possible entrances to the tunnels beneath the surface. Yi Chen followed suit and the two of them entered a temple under Li Ran’s instruction.

“I don’t know what you might be looking for. Maybe it’s in the basement or something but it has to be hidden for sure. These people lived for so long without knowing that there was a nest of strange creatures breeding right beneath their feet so it has to be hidden.”

The only thing that alerted them to a problem was the fact that people were disappearing throughout the planet but because the incidences weren’t related they weren’t quick to respond.

When Zi Han saw the two-meter statue of Lord Shiva his steps halted. It wasn’t exactly like in the books of old earth but it was equally amazing.

Zi Han tried to be as respectful as possible looking for a door that leads to the basement or something. But when he saw Yi Chen staring at it with a very serious expression Zi Han couldn’t help but reprimand him. “Stop messing around,” he whispered but Yi Chen kept staring.

After a while, he asked, “Do you think if I make an offering he will bless me with marriage like in ancient text?”

Zi Han, “...”

“Married to who? Not me that’s for sure,” said Zi Han but once he said it his heart ached. He was mad at Yi Chen but that didn’t mean he could say such hurtful words. It wasn’t only hurting Yi Chen but himself.

Yi Chen didn’t take it to heart. In fact, he could understand Zi Han. He would also be mad if the one person who was meant to support you becomes your stumbling block. And what was he doing that had made them reach this point?

Yi Chen had been actively preventing Zi Han from finding out who exactly orchestrated the attack on the late prince. Well, everyone else thought he was dead but Yi Chen strongly believed he was alive somewhere thus he wanted to interrogate that boy personally before the Federation discover his existence. This was why they had been arguing for the past few days.
