Chapter 249 If Things Had Gone My Way
\'I guess I finally did it, but I know one second is going to be way tougher than this.\' The goalkeeper said subconsciously after opening his eyes.
<You got that right>
Emma was still fast asleep and had her arms around him, so any wrong move would wake her and he didn\'t want not until he was done with his morning run.
He slowly slipped away from her grip to get off the bed and after that, he changed into his running gear and made his way downstairs.
He ran just five kilometers before making his way back home, with the level of stamina he had now, doing things like that no longer took that much of his stamina.
Norman informed them after the match against Supreme United that they will have a training session today by 11:30 AM so he had to do whatever he wanted to do fast so that he would be on his way to the stadium by at least 11:00 AM.
Fortunately for him, Emma ended up telling him to stay away from her kitchen so he had more time to spend in his gym before having breakfast with her.
After that, he made his way upstairs, washed up, and got ready to move out.
"Hey, babe did you see my backpack?" He asked as he made his way downstairs.
He didn\'t need to ask again as he could see the backpack sitting in front of Emma on the table in the living room.
"Everything you\'ll need is in there." She said,
He smiled as he made his way to the backpack and picked it up before moving closer to her.
"Thank you." She said before leaning closer to kiss her.
"It\'s my job."
"I hope you can handle yourself while I\'m going?" He said before putting the backpack on his back.
"Of course, you don\'t have to worry about anything, just focus on your training session." She replied.
"Alright, then, I\'ll see you in a couple of hours." He said before he quickly made his way to the door and left through it.
The goalkeeper got to the stadium by 10:50 AM, and there was only one car parked there when he got there.
It was a white Toyota SUV Rav 4 hybrid, none of his teammates owned that car the last time he checked.
\'Looks like someone bought a new car.\'
<And who is always the first person to arrive for training?>
"Yeah, he bought a new car." He said before he began to make his way toward the entrance to the building.
He got to the pitch to see that Catherine was right about who owned the car just like he expected.
Ferran was on the pitch practicing his shooting with the target he set up in the goalpost.
<It looks like he\'s been here for a while>
\'Why do you say that?\'
<Because everything about his shooting has gone up>
\'Seriously?\'
<Yeah, he\'s got ninety-four rated shooting power, same as yours, his accuracy has gotten better, his placement and technique too but he seemed to have dropped by minus one in speed>
\'His short upgraded from ninety-one to ninety-four by just training here today?\' The goalkeeper said subconsciously with a stunned look on his face.
<It\'s either that or he\'s been training a lot at home>
"That has to be it." He muttered before he began making his way to the pitch.
"Hey." He waved at the blonde midfielder before started getting ready to run some laps around the pitch.
"Oh, hey, Dave." The midfielder said before returning the wave.
The goalkeeper ran a few laps around the pitch and did some push-ups and sit-ups before he dived right into what he wanted to do before the coaching staff and the rest of his teammates arrived.
He had a lot of balls piled up at the center of the pitch as he was going to try hitting the crossbar as many times as possible from there.
He wanted to get a quest from this practice session but nothing popped up and that was because his accuracy had exceeded the system\'s levels of giving him accuracy tests.
The first one hit the crossbar bar, the second one flew past it but was so close to making contact with it, the third and fourth ones were both on target.
"Your accuracy is quite stunning for a goalkeeper."
The goalkeeper slowly turned around to see Ferran standing there.
"You will do really well as a midfielder or forward, you already have a couple of assists to your name as a goalkeeper." The midfielder said.
"Maybe, but I think I\'m okay with being between the sticks, it\'s my place." The goalkeeper replied.
"Yeah, you\'re most formidable there."
Since the incident with Emma, Ferran had invited Dave to dinner twice to make amends and the goalkeeper turned them so he had to plead for forgiveness after a certain training, the goalkeeper told him that he honestly holding anything against him, he was just disappointed and had always wondered what would have happened if things had gone his way.
Those words struck the midfielder hard and from that day, he started being distant from the goalkeeper and that had to apply to Mateo too since Dave was always with Mateo, but today, he summoned up the courage to go have a conversation with him and see how he would react, he was quite surprised to see that Dave was talking to him like any of his other teammates.
\'He really isn\'t holding anything against me.\'
"Hey, I saw your new car parked outside, it\'s a nice-looking car."
"You think? I bought it two weeks ago but haven\'t used it that much so I decided to move it around a little today." Ferran replied.
"I see," Dave said before returning his gaze to the balls.
"Um...I heard that you\'re expecting a child soon, is that true?" The midfielder asked while bracing himself for something.
"Yeah," Dave said with his gaze still on the balls so Ferran couldn\'t tell what look he had on his face now.
"Congratulations, then."
"Thank you." The goalkeeper said before turning his gaze to him with a smile on his face.
After saying that, he turned to the next ball in line and pulled his leg back before he sent it flying toward the goalpost.
The ball flew toward the right side of the goalpost and hit the crossbar before falling into the goalpost.
By the way, the balls were moving, it was easy to tell that he wasn\'t using much of his shot power.
Ferran watched him send ball after ball toward the goalpost with only one thought in his mind.
\'I guess if things had gone my way I could have ruined his life and mine too, Thank you, Dave, and you too Emma.\'
It didn\'t take long before the coaching staff and the rest of the players arrived and now it was time to officially kick off the training session.
